Dump Trailer Buyer’s Guide
Buying a dump trailer is an important investment. This guide is designed to help customers understand trailer sizes, weight ratings, features, financing, delivery, and important buying considerations before placing an order.
1. Choosing the Right Dump Trailer
The right dump trailer depends on what you plan to haul, how often you will use it, and the towing capacity of your vehicle. Common uses include construction debris, gravel, soil, mulch, landscaping materials, farm supplies, equipment, and general hauling.
2. Understand Trailer Size
Dump trailers are available in different lengths, widths, and sidewall heights. Smaller trailers are easier to maneuver, while larger trailers provide more capacity for commercial or heavy-duty jobs.
3. Understand GVWR
GVWR means Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It represents the maximum loaded weight the trailer is designed to carry, including the trailer’s own weight and cargo weight. Customers should always confirm that their towing vehicle is rated for the trailer and intended load.
4. Axle Type
Single axle trailers are often suitable for lighter work. Tandem axle trailers provide better stability and higher load capacity for heavier hauling.
5. Hydraulic System
The hydraulic lift system is a key feature of any dump trailer. Customers should consider lift strength, reliability, battery condition, charging system, and ease of operation.
6. New vs Used Dump Trailers
New trailers may offer warranty coverage, updated features, and long-term reliability. Used trailers may offer strong value at a lower price. Used trailer condition can vary, so customers should review photos, descriptions, specifications, and any available inspection details before purchase.
7. Payment and Financing
Jon’s Dump Trailers accepts ACH transfer, wire transfer, credit/debit cards, and approved financing. Financing is available for qualified buyers. Financing terms, approval, down payment requirements, interest rates, and monthly payments are determined by the financing provider.
8. Delivery Process
We offer delivery throughout the United States. Estimated delivery time is 7–15 business days after payment verification or financing approval. Customers should provide a safe and accessible delivery location.
9. Inspecting Your Trailer Upon Delivery
Customers should inspect the trailer at delivery and report any visible damage or discrepancy immediately. Photos should be taken if there is any concern.
