The hydraulic system does the hard work on a dump trailer. Simple habits keep it lifting for a decade or more.
Check Fluid Every Month
Park level, lower the bed fully and read the reservoir. Top up with the fluid grade listed on the pump decal.
Change the fluid once a year in heavy use. Dirty fluid destroys pumps faster than anything else.
Keep the Rod Clean
Wipe the cylinder rod after dusty jobs. Grit scores the chrome and shreds the seal.
Store the trailer with the bed down so the rod stays retracted and protected.
Watch the Battery and Wiring
The pump draws serious current. Keep the battery charged and the ground strap tight.
Corroded connections cause most slow-lift complaints. Clean the terminals twice a year.
Grease the Pivots
Hit the hoist pins and hinge points with grease every ten loads.
Replace worn pins early. A loose pivot puts side load on the cylinder and bends the rod.
