Match the Trailer to Your Tow Vehicle
A half-ton pickup handles a 7,000 lb bumper pull. A three-quarter-ton truck handles a 14,000 lb bumper pull comfortably.
Choose a gooseneck once you pass 16,000 lb. The hitch sits over the rear axle, so the trailer tracks straighter and backs up more precisely.
Understand Hoist Systems
Scissor hoists lift heavy loads evenly and suit dense material. Telescopic hoists dump faster and clear sticky loads better.
Dual-cylinder hoists split the lift across both frame rails. They cost more but last longer under daily use.
Check the Details That Matter
Look at frame steel thickness, floor gauge, tarp systems, ramp storage and the quality of the wiring harness.
Ask about the jack, the coupler rating and the spare tire. Small parts cause most roadside failures.
